Ride For Ethan Fundraiser
The Walk Street Tavern, located at 1218 Jericho Turnpike in New Hyde Park, will host a fundraiser on Saturday, September 6th from 2PM to 6PM in support of 5-year-old Ethan Demmers, who was recently diagnosed with Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy.
Typically, people with this disease only live into their 20’s. Ethan’s dad, Floral Park Memorial English Teacher, Dustin Demmers, along with his wife Betsy, have been working hard to make people aware and bring everyone together to help in the fight against this devastating disease.
The event will include a $20 bbq style buffet, $3 tap beer, $4 domestic beer, $5 wine, 50/50 raffles, and a Chinese auction. Bracelets will also be for sale. To donate prior to the event, please visit gofundme.com/RideForEthan.
FPM Alumni Jules Alonzo and Kyle Vidasolo, alongside Mr. Anthony D’Amico have organized a 200-mile bike trail through the Grand Canyon in support of Ethan and to raise awareness about DMD. Jules and Kyle are set out on October 1st through October 5th for the ride.
They will be documenting this incredible journey in hopes to spread awareness for DMD, while raising money along the way. One-hundred percent of the donations will go towards medicine, doctor's appointments, medical equipment, or giving Ethan some journeys of his own.
Please come out and support this very worthy cause. For more information on the event or to help, contact: Emily Coughlin (516) 395-0625, Jules Alonzo (516) 395-2956, or Carly Sheehan (516) 849-8384.
