Baseball Season Has Begun at Floral Park Memorial
The birds are chirping, the grass is freshly cut, and the skies are sunny and clear. Actually, there is still snow on the ground and the birds will not come back north because it is still freezing. However, this does not stop baseball season from arriving at Floral Park Memorial. A new season brings new hope for the Knights, who look to have a successful season. Head Coach Paul Pugliese sums up hope and optimism by saying, “The expectations for this year are to build on our success of the past two years and compete for the conference title.”
For the past week or so tryouts have been held, and the final roster has not be set yet. However, FPM as seven returning starters, with plenty of experience. Their returning starters include All-County freshman pitcher Chris Stefl and All-County junior catcher Mitch Calandra. FPM’s captains are seniors, Alex Cerrone, Henry Cochran, Michael Nelson, and junior, Mitch Calandra.
The Knights play their home games at ATS Field in Elmont. This year’s team has plenty of hype and hope surrounding it, so spectators and fans should come and watch as many of the Knight’s games this season as possible. Their schedule is still in the making, but will be released as soon as possible. So, as soon as the snow melts and the skies clear baseball season will commence at Floral Park Memorial.
