Clara H. Carlson’s Hosts Class of 2016 Parent Meeting
Clara H. Carlson sixth-graders and their families received updates on upcoming
commencement-related activities and information on the curriculum offered at Sewanhaka Central High School District when the school held its Class of 2016 Parent Meeting on Jan.
The evening began with Principal Kenneth Rosner and Assistant Principal Stacia
Walfall providing information on a variety of events and activities, including the yearbook, graduation photos, the Senior Picnic, the Senior Trip and the Senior Social. Parents were also given an update on fundraising and had an opportunity to volunteer for upcoming In addition to learning about sixth-grade events, parents were also given dates of activities planned at Floral Park Memorial High School, Sewanhaka High School and New Hyde Park Memorial High School.
These events were organized to help the soon-to-be high school students’ transition to their new schools. Members of the music department and
athletic department from Sewanhaka High School are also planning visits to Clara. H. Carlson in an effort to share information with the sixth-grade students.
Following the explanation of important dates, Dr. Cheryl Champ, assistant
superintendent for curriculum and instruction at Sewanhaka Central High School District, presented details on the seventh-grade curriculum. Dr. Champ spoke about course offerings, special education resources and eighth-grade pathways.
